Kaitlyn Canipe

LCMHC-A, NCC

Kaitlyn earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology at North Carolina State University (Go Pack!) in 2021. With a desire to guide others in their journey of healing, she followed her education at NCSU with a Master of Arts degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at  Gardner-Webb University.

Kaitlyn has over three years of experience serving in the role of family advocate at a Child Advocacy Center in North Carolina. During this time, she contributed to case management, crisis intervention, medical assessment and forensic interviewing of children involved in maltreatment investigations.  Kaitlyn also collaborated regularly with community partners, in a collective pursuit to provide resources to meet the needs of children and families. During her time interacting with trauma exposed children, she discovered a passion to assist this vulnerable population in proactively addressing the challenging experiences they’ve endured to help them create the healthy future they deserve.

Kaitlyn’s dedication to therapeutic and restorative service provision is not limited to children, as she is equally ambitious to provide services for a variety of other demographics. Central to her therapeutic philosophy is the provision of an inclusive environment for the unique individuals she encounters.  Kaitlyn demonstrates a humanistic and holistic approach, believing clients have the necessary internal components to facilitate change and heal the wounded parts of themselves. The foundation of Kaityn’s therapeutic approach is the belief that the counseling process is a collaborative alliance, with clients considered an expert on their own lives.

The cornerstone of Kaitlyn’s therapeutic philosophy is her commitment to practicing with positive unconditional regard. She prioritizes creating a safe and nonjudgmental space where clients can explore their thoughts, emotions, and experiences freely, fostering an environment of acceptance and understanding. Kaitlyn encourages individuals to openly engage in the therapeutic process with trust and confidence.

Kaitlyn is trained in Trauma Focused- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for children and adolescents. She will continue to advance her knowledge in therapeutic modalities by obtaining credentials in Sex Therapy and Internal Family Systems (IFS). During Kaitlyn’s free time she enjoys tending to her many houseplants and playing with her “adorable” fur babies, Dolly and Dix. Kaitlyn prioritizes self-care in all facets of life, by finding balance and integrating mindfulness, physical activity, and an appreciation of the natural world.
